New updates for PIX4Dscan and PIX4Dinspect are going to continue making life easier for their users. Brand new AI algorithms deliver automatic rust detection which brings you a step closer to completely automating your asset inspections. Continue reading to find out more about the new AI algorithms and other exciting changes.

Automatic rust detection thanks to AI

Thanks to Artificial Intelligence algorithms, PIX4Dinspect can now automatically detect rust on any type of surface which includes different structures, antenna supports, bolts, and more. With the help of automatic rust detection, the software points you to the areas with rust, so you can save time manually identifying them.

How does it work?

To enable the rust detection, go to the Intelligent Digital Twin tab on the left, and enable “Rust”. The 3D model will color in white and red, where white means “no rust” and red means “rust detected”. By clicking on the location of the detected rust, you will be shown a recommended image that best shows the rust. On the images displayed on the right, you will be able to validate the rust and annotate it, so that it is automatically added to your report.

*Please note that the Automatic rust detection is currently in Beta.

New asset type - rooftop

Now you can select rooftop as an asset type when creating a new asset or a new project which will help you better organize your inspections. Our processing workflow is now optimized for rooftops in order to provide you with better-quality digital twins.

Rooftop measurements could be beneficial for solar panel installations or home maintenance and construction projects. Roof measurements are needed to better plan the cost, time, and equipment needed for installations by measuring the roof to estimate how many solar panels can be installed. At the same time, a detailed 3D model can provide the exact location of all roof elements so you can accurately plan and implement renovation projects.

Compared to traditional methods, measuring rooftops with drones save time, increase accuracy and reduces the risks associated with climbing ontop of a building.
