About Pix4D

Founded in 2011 in Lausanne, Switzerland, Pix4D is a company specialized in low altitude aerial image processing.

Pix4D solutions are backed up by the research effort by Dr. Christoph Strecha and his team over the past 10 years at a world leading research institute: Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne (EPFL). This provided us the cutting edge technology that is included into its next-generation software for aerial image processing.

The company is supported by the Swiss government (CTI/KTI) and has already won several innovation and start-up competitions (Venture Kick, MICS spin-fund, IMD) and the attention of a number of major players in the geospatial and mapping industry. Furthermore, Pix4D has partnerships with the leading UAV manufacturers: Gatewing, Sensefly, MAVinci, Pteryx, Ascending Technologies, Lehmann Aviation and others.

"In direct support to on-going earthquake recovery projects of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Haiti, a swinglet CAM operated by UNITAR/UNOSAT acquired a near-infrared (NIR) and visible image mosaics of various regions such as camps and surrounding settlements at an unprecedented spatial resolution of only 5 centimeters per pixel, providing the most detailed aerial imagery ever acquired over the area. This is the very first official UN mission with a UAV.
